Individual Support – Neighbour Aid

The aim of the program is to provide social support services to people who are aged, people with a disability and carers in the Wollondilly Shire.

The program offers a variety of services, including assisted shopping, transport to medical/dental appointments, to the hairdresser or to visit a family/friend in a nursing home) and friendly home visits are also offered.

Volunteers provide the services and are reimbursed for out-of-pocket expenses, primarily being petrol, calculated at a per kilometre rate. There is no charge for home visiting services. Costs are kept to a minimum for clients and all efforts are made to meet individual needs.

Transport can also be provided to attend social/ special interest groups, such as coffee groups, dancing, tai chi, knitting and cards, to name a few.

Special Needs Worker

The Special Needs Worker provides individual support for people with complex needs or that have a disability, this could include;

  • travel training,
  • referral to other services,
  • supporting the person to apply for an individual packages

This program supports people with complex needs  by using the person centred and wellness approach, building on the persons strengths to identify goals and supporting them to achieve their goals.
